MILWAUKEE, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- This holiday season, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, is recognizing organizations that improve the Milwaukee community by awarding $225,000 in grants to deserving nonprofits. Through its Days of Sharing program, 25 local organizations will receive grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 on behalf of Northwestern Mutual employees. The annual campaign, which is now in its eighth year, awards grants based on employee nominations.
"Our Days of Sharing program is a very personal way of supporting our community," said John Kordsmeier, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. "By encouraging employees to nominate organizations close to their hearts, we are aligning our employees' passions and helping to shape a stronger future."
The winning organizations were chosen throughout the month of November. This year, more than 500 employees nominated their nonprofits of choice. Employees were surprised by the announcement their nonprofits had won – watch their reactions here.
