MILWAUKEE, March 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- To recognize community impact demonstrated through volunteerism by its financial advisors, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, announced today it is awarding nearly $300,000 in grants to support nonprofits nationwide through its 2018 Community Service Awards program.
"Volunteerism takes drive, dedication and perseverance, which is why we created our Community Service Awards program," said Eric Christophersen, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. "We're proud to honor our financial advisors who tirelessly commit to causes and organizations that are meaningful to them and the communities they serve."
Since 1995, the Foundation has donated more than $5.4 million to nonprofits through its Community Service Awards program. This year's winners were recently announced at the company's regional meetings, with grants presented to nonprofits at local events across the country.
Twelve financial professionals have each been awarded a $15,000 grant to benefit a local nonprofit to which he or she has dedicated his or her time and support. An additional winner in each of the four regions of the country has been recognized as Most Exceptional, receiving $25,000 for their organization. Two of this year's Most Exceptional winners are each receiving an added $5,000 for volunteering with an organization focused on childhood cancer, the company's national philanthropic cause.
