Northwestern Mutual Employees Give Back to Local Nonprofits with $225,000 in Grants
Community organizations receive funding through annual Days of Sharing program

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, is showcasing its employees' passion for community support through its annual Days of Sharing program. Beginning in October, company employees throughout its campuses participated in providing local nonprofit organizations the opportunity to receive funding on behalf of Northwestern Mutual in grants totaling $225,000. Following an employee nomination process, 25 nonprofit organizations have been randomly selected to receive $1,000 to $10,000 grants totaling $100,000 on behalf of company employees.

"Fostering community improvement is such an integral piece of our company's beliefs system, and our employees are the greatest champions of this," said Eric Christophersen, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. "Days of Sharing provides them the very personal opportunity to advocate for the causes and organizations most meaningful to them."

Employees were also encouraged to vote for pre-selected nonprofits to receive grants totaling $125,000; these pre-selected nonprofits were designated by either Northwestern Mutual's employee resource groups or other coalitions of active employee volunteers. The 2018 employee choice winners include Save the Soldiers Home (Milwaukee Preservation Alliance), Alzheimer's Association – Southeastern Wisconsin, Milwaukee Women's Center, ABCD (After Breast Cancer Diagnosis) and Courage MKE.
