Spotlight on Sixteenth Street Community Health Center
One recipient of a Northwestern Mutual grant is the Sixteenth Street Community Health Center. Sixteenth Street provides health services for the underserved regardless of age, culture, language or insurance status. The center is known for its innovative health programs, its advocacy for access to health care and other public health issues.

The grant will help fund health service operations such as family health care, dental care, behavioral health and specialty care.  In 2010, nearly 30,000 people relied on Sixteenth Street for pediatric and adult medical care, women's health services, behavioral health counseling and treatment, chronic disease management, health education and lead poisoning prevention.

"Helping low-income patients become healthy and prosperous is one of our top priorities," said Dr. John Bartkowski, DrPH, president and chief executive officer, Sixteenth Street Community Health Center.
