MILWAUKEE, WI, September 16, 2013 – Timothy G. Schaefer has been promoted to executive vice president – operations and technology of Northwestern Mutual and has joined the company’s management committee.
Schaefer joined Northwestern Mutual in 1988 as a programmer in the Information Systems department before moving to the company’s Policyowner Services department in 2002. He has held multiple leadership positions at Northwestern Mutual, becoming vice president of life benefits in 2007 and chief information officer and head of the company’s Information Systems department in 2008. He is also a member of the company’s Enterprise Operations Integration Committee and Technology Strategy Committee.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1988 and a master’s degree in management and organizational behavior from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
Schaefer is a current member of the board of the Milwaukee-based Next Door Foundation. He lives in Whitefish Bay with his wife, Rosalie, and their two children.
