Northwestern Mutual gives $285,000 in grants to 16 nonprofits across the United States
Outstanding volunteers celebrated during 20th anniversary of Community Service Awards

MILWAUKEE, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Volunteers are rallying their communities across the country in support of nonprofits that are shaping the world for the better. Northwestern Mutual financial professionals are active participants in these efforts, making an impact in the lives of others where they live and work.

To honor this commitment, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, is recognizing 16 financial professionals with the company's 2014 Community Service Award. The accolade highlights the exemplary service volunteers have demonstrated and awards three winners per region with a $15,000 grant for their nonprofit. Additionally, one winner per region is named most exceptional and receives $25,000 for their organization.

"Something special happens when you combine hope with action," said John Kordsmeier, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. "These 16 professionals have demonstrated their deep commitment to their communities. Each of them is an inspiration to others through their transformative work that enriches the lives of those around us."

Since 1995, the company has donated more than $4 million to nonprofits on behalf of its representatives.
