Northwestern Mutual Joined by Two Dozen Milwaukee and Wisconsin-based Companies for Interior Work on Tower and Commons

Northwestern Mutual today announced it is partnering with more than two dozen local and Wisconsin-based companies, including a dozen certified small business enterprises (SBEs) to perform interior work on the Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons.

“With 32 stories of steel now gracing Milwaukee’s skyline, 13 of which are enclosed in glass, we’re excited to continue bringing the inside of The Tower and Commons to life,” said Sandy Botcher, Northwestern Mutual vice president of campus and event experiences. “We’re also excited to continue to tap into the tremendous talent that exists in Milwaukee to create a state-of-the-art environment our employees and the public will experience for years to come.”

The companies will also help Northwestern Mutual continue to meet its commitment to the City of Milwaukee to tap SBEs for 25 percent of the project costs and utilize city residents through the Residents Preference Program (RPP) for 40 percent of the hours worked on the project.

The latest jobs report submitted to the city shows the company is exceeding those percentages with SBEs being awarded 31.8 percent of the total value of applicable construction and professional services contracts and RPP workers performing 44.2 percent of the construction hours on the project to date.

The below companies will perform a variety of work that ranges from electrical, plumbing and HVAC to carpentry, drywall, fire protection and other elements forming the interior. A list can also be found here.

Construction of the Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017. Crews are currently installing the glass curtain wall that will completely enclose the Tower by fall and are beginning work on the skywalks that will connect the Commons to Northwestern Mutual’s Mason and Van Buren street office buildings.

Once completed, the project will welcome residents and visitors to the city and anchor Milwaukee’s lakefront development.
